About Us

My name is James and I started African Art in 2014 to bring you a selection of beautiful art and jewellery straight from Africa. I am originally from Cape Town and on one of my trips home I realised that I had taken for granted the art that I was surrounded with when growing up. I take time and care to select the best of traditional art, such as handcrafted wooden and stone sculptures and masks as well as contemporary designs. It doesn't matter if you are an experienced traveller regretting not bringing that huge wooden giraffe home from your South African adventure or you are simply looking for a unique piece to brighten up your home – I hope you will find what you are looking for in the African Art store! I will be expanding the product range on a regular basis so feel free to contact me and tell me what you would like to see in the store or if there is something special that you are currently looking for and I will do my best to find it for you.

I am only starting up but hope to make a positive impact on the artists I am working with and their community. I always offer a fair price when sourcing the products. I am currently selecting a local charity in South Africa / Lesotho area that African Art will support so that we can give something back to the communities that produce such an amazing range of decorative and everyday art.

African Art is based in Cork, Ireland and you can visit me there at the Fair Alternative Market every Saturday from 10:30am till 5:00pm.
